A Middle School 7th grade science teacher wrote a grant that will have her students making different kinds of bird houses.  Here she meets with a local contractor and me to finalize materials and design plans.  The students will sell the bird houses at an open house to provide continued funding for the bird house project next year.

For the last three years I have been asked to visit the middle school in Brandon to demonstrate scrollsawing and woodworking.  Last year I donated 196 angels to the students to paint and take home.  Here I supervise a group of boys and girls as they put the finishing touches on a Wood Duck house.
Working with these students has been very gratifying for me . . . showing the kids what you can do with a scroll saw, and how safe it is compared to all other woodworking saws.   If you haven't volunteered at your local school I suggest you give it a try.  It's an excellent way to get more people interested in our hobby of scrollsawing, fretwork and woodworking in general.  They are all excited and willing to learn new things.
